JENNIFER DEFILIPPO
I’ve been obsessed with movies for as long as I can remember. In junior high, while other kids were getting in trouble for smoking dope and making out, you could find me in my room watching On The Waterfront on repeat. (I mean, I did plenty of making out, too.)
After high school I continued my passion for performing with the aim of making a professional career out of it. I attended Loyola Marymount University to study Theatre Arts while also attending The Groundlings as a barely 18-year-old. Talk about throwing yourself into the deep end of the pool. Luckily, I was able to borrow my big sister’s I.D. to get into the Snake Pit with my new improv buds after class.
While in college, I worked at the independent video store up the street. This would be the true beginning of my film education. I soaked up every independent and mainstream film made in the early 2000s alongside the classics on every greatest film list ever written. That independent video store is now a foot massage place. They do very good work. I highly recommend.
After graduating college, I jumped into working as an actor in television, film, and commercials. As I’ve enjoyed my pursuits in front of the camera, I’ve steadily grown a vision of work behind the camera.
Inspired by Elaine May, Adrienne Shelly and Rashida Jones - I began to understand that I could also enjoy a multi-disciplinary career in filmmaking with equal passion for all sides of production.
It’s been really exciting thus far, and I look forward to sharing more directing and editing projects with you.
